EWS stands for Economically Weaker Section. It is a simple reservation scheme for the economically weaker sections of society. An EWS certificate serves as an income certificate and is valid for one year. This certificate is also valid for the backward classes and is issued by the government to those people who meet the requirements. A valid certificate will give you a 10% reservation in government jobs and higher education institutions. To apply for an EWS certificate, you must meet the eligibility criteria and pay the court stamp fee of 2 /-.
The EWS certificate is issued by the Mee Seva centre of Andhra Pradesh. If you reside in an area not covered by a notified municipality, you will need to visit the Tehsildar of that district and fill up the form. Afterwards, you must collect your AP EWS Certificate. It will be valid for one year after you have filed the form. The fee for filling the application form is two Rupees and the Government Order 1551 is 10 Rupees.
